The challenge today is no longer simply understanding climate risk or making commitments, but delivering against them. Understanding and supporting the key technical building blocks in energy transitions, namely, structural/infrastructural efficiencies, deep electrification of the economy, renewable power generation, steady substitution of liquid and gaseous fossil fuels with bio-fuels and hydrogen derivatives, and carbon dioxide removals by natural and technical means through just and effective governance, renewed international cooperation, and shifts in societal values and norms that support more sustainable relationships with each other and with nature. In a time of growing economic and geopolitical uncertainty, businesses also need stable ground rules such as Net Zero Standard that helps organizations build resilience, manage climate risk, and demonstrate that their business plans are future-proofed.
